Bali Fashion Week 2008 was held on 24- 29 August 2008 under the theme “Fashion Meets Nature: A Celebration of Life”. This year’s event took place on venues around Bali, including Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park where one of our venue, Lotus Pond, was used for fashion shows. A quote from the Bali Fashion Week website:
“Every night during Bali Fashion Week, a fashion show is held showcasing works of participating fashion and accessory designers, both from Indonesia as well as overseas participants. The shows receive great responses and coverages from the domestic and International media.

Selasa, 20 Mei 2008 adalah hari yang sangat bersejarah. Bangsa Indonesia memperingati Hari Kebangkitannya yang ke-100 yang dikenal sebagai HARI KEBANGKITAN NASIONAL. Kali ini GK memperingatinya secara khusus sebagai upaya untuk melakukan review sejarah perjuangan bangsa Indonesia sejak sebelum kemrdekaan hingga setelah kemerdekaan.
GWK yang terlahir idenya sejak 18 tahun silam, memulai inisiatif dengan mendorong agar kekuatan budaya dapat dijadikan penyeimbang. Melalui tata hubungan dari perbedaan budaya-budaya dunia diharapkan akan terjadi perekat tata hubungan kemanusiaan. Melalui pemikiran ini lahirlah konsep World Cultural Forum yang akan diselenggarakan secara periodik dan menjadi program utama GWK.
GWK tetap konsisten dengan program ini dan akan sgera memulai pembangunan lanjutan secara bertahap selama 4 tahun. GWK juga bertekad untuk membangun sendiri tanpa bantuan langsung dari pemerintah, sehingga skema pembangunannya dapat lebih terarah untuk menyeimbangkan antara bisnis seni budaya dan visi misi yang diembannya.

“Peak A Boo” XC Challenge was a bicycling event on 26-27 April 2008, hosted by Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in cooperation with the Hillanders Fun Cycling Community. The event was officially opened by the Head of KONI Bali, I Gusti Bagus Alit Putra.
The event featured the first national Urban Downhill champhionship and a cross-country cycling through the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park area. More than 300 people from all over Indonesia (Bali, Jawa, Kalimantan, Sulawesi) and from other countries join this action-packed competition. They followed a route through the exotic venues of GWK such as Plaza Wisnu, Plaza Kura-Kura, Lotus Pond, Festival Park, and Tirta Agung.
The event also provide a charity program by giving out free medical care for local residents.
