When you first land in the island of Bali, you will hear the beautiful sound coming from this traditional bamboo musical instruments. When you arrive at the hotel, go to a wedding ceremonies, or visiting GWK Cultural Park, you will notice the beautiful sound of music at the background.

That is Rindik, a traditional Balinese musical instrument consisting tubes made of bamboo, of different sizes and lengths. Rindik usually played by musicians by striking the bamboo tubes with mallets in both hands. Rindik uses the traditional pentatonic scale called Salendro.

Rather than for ceremonies, rindik is usually played for events and entertainment, most likely used to welcome guests. You can hear this unique sound almost everywhere in Bali, yet it’s so soft and subtle that you can ignore it at times, thus making it the perfect background music to accompany you through your entire tour in GWK and Bali.
